What to Expect on this Tour
Taste the true flavors of New Orleans on a walking food history tour designed for food and history lovers!
If you’re hungry for an authentic taste of New Orleans, this is the tour for you. Our New Orleans Food History Tour takes you beyond the guidebook and straight into the courtyards, counters, and culinary history of what Time Out Magazine ranked as the world’s best food city right now!
Led by passionate local guides, you’ll visit up to five curated stops—2 restaurants, a sandwich shop, a praline/candy store, and a hot sauce bar full of tasty treats. At each location, you’ll sample dishes that define the city’s rich food culture: think deeply flavored gumbo, smoky boudin, savory muffulettas, overstuffed po-boys, hand-pulled pralines, and more.
Along the way, we’ll dig into the stories behind the food—highlighting Louisiana’s complex food traditions and etymologies. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the ingredients, techniques, and influences that make New Orleans cuisine so unique.
We serve up more than just amazing food—our tour is a feast of history, too. Guests are often amazed by how much culture, context, and culinary insight is packed into every bite.
Another captivating element of the tour is the French Quarter neighborhood itself. Renowned for its ornate ironwork balconies, colorful Creole townhouses, and centuries-old architecture, the area exudes a timeless charm. The lively streets pulse with the sounds of jazz musicians, the chatter of passersby, and the unexpected delight of wedding parades winding through the crowd. With its rich blend of history, culture, and spontaneous street performances, the French Quarter offers an immersive backdrop that elevates the entire tour experience.
Why settle for just one great meal, when you can taste five different culinary experiences in a single afternoon? Join us and eat like a local—because in New Orleans, food is the story.
